Welcome Aboard

Hello and welcome to my e-portfolio.

First great news about the project: my research proposal and survey were approved by the Institutional Review Board at UA, so I am one step closer to getting my first paper published!

I'll be posting some of my work as it pertains to information literacy.

Please use the menu bar at top to view the various sections.

"True genius resides in the capacity for evaluation of uncertain, hazardous, and conflicting information."
-Winston Churchill

"For having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged, by better information or fuller consideration, to change opinions, even on important subjects, which I once thought right but found to be otherwise."
-Benjamin Franklin

What is 'In the Cycle'?

'In the Cycle' is how I describe my philosophy of information literacy education.

We live in an information world.  Our lives are shaped by this vast landscape and navigation of its topography is perhaps the most critical skill that can be imparted to library users.  The way people use information is a key factor to success.  Teaching people to be adept at understanding,  gathering, interpreting, and utilizing information is, I feel, the central mission of an information literacy librarian.

I see the Information Cycle as the grand conversation between the individual and society. The information cycle is not an abstract concept going on beyond of the reach of the user. The user is at the center of the information cycle.  It is a dynamic, active process that the user participates in everyday.  Understanding one's role in this concept is essential to information literacy.
